Got an e-mail from Peter that this next weekend we will be having an overnight swimming courtesy of our college classmates who recently graduated. I may or may not be able to join them for some really personal and sensitive reason I’d rather not discuss.

Focused more on printing instrument datasheets for future references.

I’ve still got one more course to go to finish Effective Listening Skills. I’ll try to finish it up later this afternoon.

A few notes:

:: Took out all the junk out of my cabinet this afternoon. The mere collision of any object I move with my fucking steel cabinet created a lot of noise that I have a lot of difficulty moving things around while being careful not to bang it on its side. Argh. I’ll ask beg the office services to switch it for another one.

:: I’ve downloaded two java app games from the net. Othello and BoobiSisters might prove a worthy companion on my lonely no-gimmick weekend.

:: First choir practice went well. For them, I mean. I have to go through rigorous vocal lessons again to be able to sing ala-opera. Maui, our coach, had me placed as soprano 2. Soprano 1 is the sort of shrieking-voice-that-gives-u-goosebumps at the end of a piece. I definitely cannot do that so I’m more than grateful to be number 2. They rehearsed three Latin songs that I know nothing about so I just sat there focusing on the notes and half-listening to Liezel, also a soprano 2, grasping the feel of the song. Next came a fantastic rendition of Paraiso and Bahay that gave me the shivers. Gosh, I may have practice harder to be able to measure up with them. X_x

:: Bart called me his inamorata. * blush *

We will be having our plant visit on P&G Cabuyao Laguna this Friday. It will be a "legal" thing, for the time spent there will be charged on training. So much to our chagrin, we are forced to go back straight to the office after the trip instead of going on a "sidetrip".

After lunch we went to Mang Emil, the one who handles supplies in the office, and borrowed safety hats, glasses and steel-toed shoes. The supply room was besieged with laughters, shoes flying around the place, and loud conversations.

Buti na lang I was lucky enough to find one that fits me. ^_^

Last night I had a really disconcerting dream. A big snake bit me across my right ankle. The weird thing about it is in that dream I know that I have received many bites from different snakes before (all at the left ankle!) and I survived. But this one really scared me. I asked my Mom to take me to the hospital but we never seem to get there. You know that feeling in your dream when you keep on rushing because you’re going somewhere, or like you’re late for something and for some inexplicable reason you just cannot go? That’s exactly what happened before I was roused from my sleep.

Not wearing seatbelt was the violation. Then we were stuck in traffic at the expressway for twenty minutes. I have this feeling that it's all my fault.

:: Another day of taking Skillsoft courses.

Weekend…

Friday night

I missed my choral practice last Friday because I went out to celebrate Magz’ birthday. My friends and I met up at Power Books and then trudged along St. Francis Square We decided to try out 10 Years After since 8th Day is closed and a sign that loudly says THONG PARTY on Friday night caught our immediate attention. Obviously, flesh took precedence over budget and reason. ;p

It was worth it though. The place displays a Neo-Gothic/Renaissance/Dark Ages inspired look that's quite impressive, just right for party goers looking for that dark ambiance to get drunk and do mischievous things. ;P They have appetizers named after bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blitz, Tears for Fears among others. We girls chatted while the guys go about their boisterous blabbering. While light beers were consumed with unusual speed, the girls gyrating on top of the ledgers kept us entertained, teasing the guys with an occasional peak of their thongs. Rissa and Noli dropped by after dining with friends at Aubar. By then we were makukulit na and we kept screaming our heads off as Dyani and Bart groove their stuff to the music. Lolz. Went home around 4 am in the morning.

Saturday

:: I accompanied Mom at the grocery to stack up canned goods and some items in her store. My arms and shoulders were given extreme workout from lugging the grocery basket full of packed goods, detergents, sanitary napkins and other stuff to the parked cart near the cashier.

:: Renz and Janis’ third year anniversary. As usual, large amounts of beer were consumed. On one of the many occassion Renz got stripped by the guys. Hehehe.

Sunday

:: Went home after lunch.

:: Started reading The Class.

Love...

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz, or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off. I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret, between the shadow and the soul. I love you as the plant that never blooms but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers; thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance, risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body. I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way than this: where I does not exist, nor you, so close that your hand on my chest is my hand, so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

June 09, 2003

Remember my post about joining the choir thing? Well, I started out yesterday during the morning mass. My mom told Ate Erna, the president of one of our church’s choir group and neighbor, about my interest in joining the choir. She was quite delighted with the opportunity since they also need new members. After we were introduced she gave me a brief introduction of their choir, their achievements and their activities outside the church. It turned out that they’re more than just the typical choir I see in the church. This choir have produced one tape and two CDs, have their own concerts, able to sing Latin, folk songs and can even rap. They have regular concerts at the Mandarin Hotel during Christmas Eve and are often invited to sing at weddings. You can imagine how intimidated I felt at first hearing out those things. But instead of backing out I begin to think of it as an opportunity to work on improving my seldom used talent and meet people so I took a shot.

I was found at the church grounds Sunday morning with Ate Erna and her husband, one of the oldest choir member. I have never set foot at church in the morning ever since I was a kid and the number of children running around amused me such that I could almost remember vividly those days when my sisters and I would drag my Dad to the vendors outside and buy those P1 junk food wrapped in transparent plastics. I was roused back to reality when Ate Erna started introducing me with some of the members. When we entered the church I realized there were only five of us and I was thinking how would our voices be heard in such a huge crowd and no microphone. My doubts vanished the moment the organ was played and the opening song was sung. They were able to sing with such beautiful strong voices that resonate mellifluously within the walls of the church. I joined them in some pieces I know and one of them told me I was a soprano. After the mass, they welcomed me again and informed me the schedule for rehearsals. ^_^

"... someone in the world awaits you, wether it's in the middle of the desert or in some great city. And when two such people encounter each oder, and their eyes meet, the past and the future become unimportant. There is only that moment, and the incredible certainty that everythng under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one's dreams would have no meaning."

My Horoscope for June 5, 2003

Be open about your ideas and thoughts on issues about which you feel strongly. Get involved in an organization that will enable you to make a difference.

***

It will be

When you think that the world is against you, it is. When you know that you can do it, you can. If you're sure that today will be tedious and boring, it will be. When you're certain that you can succeed no matter what the obstacles, you will.

Reality is what it is. And yet what truly matters is how you perceive, relate, and respond to that reality. For every situation, what you think, what you believe and what you know will determine what you do about it. And what you do about it will determine how it turns out for you.

Your reality can be completely different than the reality of someone standing right next to you. Because it's not where you are or what you have that matters, but what you do with it.

Though thinking alone does not cause anything to happen, thinking plays a crucial role in determining specifically what does happen. When you think it, to the point that you know it without a doubt, it will be.

Am with you girl! .

I like the story of Meteor Garden.

Hello?! As if naman lahat tayo dito e nakakaintindi tayo ng fookien o mandarin?

Nyahaha.

What’s next?

P.S. Am not against your precious F4 guys. Shingshigishigi-makashigi-hoohhaahh!!!

CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE BEER DRINKER

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel shamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."
And saving the best for last, as explained by Cliff Clavin, of Cheers.
One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory to his buddy Norm.
Here's how it went:
"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the
herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing
of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."
Hee. Itaas mo!!! ^_^
